ABCO Construction Services

William R. Hyatt, P.E., founded ABCO Engineering Corporation in 1989 with a primary focus on Property Condition Assessments and Phase I Environmental Reports for transfer of ownership of commercial property. ABCO experienced much success during these early years due to efficiency in fieldwork and prompt delivery of a superior work product.

In 1999, ABCO was asked by a major Colorado homebuilder to provide a “Third Party Inspection” program. The purpose of the program was to serve as a defense against potential construction defect lawsuits. At the time, this type of service was only being performed by a handful of companies located primarily in the western United States.

The Third Party Observation program in 1999 proved to be a successful venture. Following this, ABCO actively grew this service and today provides Third Party Inspections at over 150 sites in nearly every developing residential community in Colorado and in four regional locations in the United States.

Over the next six years, ABCO worked closely with their clients and the insurance industry to identify the needs and processes to address “Quality Assurance” in residential construction. During this developmental period, ABCO created a systematic method to provide timely and actionable information to clients in the form of periodic and final reports. ABCO’s approach has always been to interact with its clients and be attuned to their needs and individual culture.

In 2006, ABCO realizing a shift in direction of the insurance and legal environment seized the opportunity to grow their services in the construction industry. In light of this opportunity, the decision was made to discontinue the Environmental Engineering services and concentrate on the expanding Construction Services sector.

In 2007, ABCO began using its registered trade name “ABCO Construction Services Corporation”. A total re-branding program, including a new company logo and website design was implemented to support the new concentration of marketing to the Construction Services sector.

These decisions, coupled with the rollout of the latest field support technology, have placed ABCO Construction Services Corporation in an ideal position to be a leader in the growing industry of Risk Management for Construction Services.
